Dave’s Lounge #233: The 7th Anniversary Mix

THE 7TH ANNIVERSARY MIX! Nearly two hours worth of music spanning seven years of podcasts. Also, this week marks the launch of THE DAVE'S LOUNGE PREMIUM PODCAST, a higher-quality version of the show that includes chapter markers, album art, embedded links to songs, and no voiceovers in the mix. Visit http://www.daveslounge.com/premium for details.

Question of the week: Last week, I asked what was the first song you ever bought. This week, I'd like to know what was the first song you heard on Dave's Lounge that you went and bought after hearing it? Leave your answer in the comments.

And if I haven't said it enough yet, thank you for your support of this podcast over the last seven years. None of this would have happened without you.

Dave’s Lounge #233: The 7th Anniversary Mix — 17 Comments

  1. Another great great podcast… I started back at about #20 and have listened every week/month/year since… awesomeness day… keep it up… and really looking forward to my weekly Dave!

  2. happy birthday, 7 years is alot! I started listening in august 2005 and I have kept all episodes. Some days when I’m very busy at work I play the lounge one after the other… it’s a great way to keep the balance when work gets on my nerves 😉

Keep going Dave, you do a great job!

  3. I don’t remember what exact episode or song introduced me to the Atomica Project, but Grayscale was the first album I bought after hearing it on your show.

Thanks for an awesome seven years, and I’m stoked to hear you’re going back to weekly shows!!

  4. Dave,

Thank you for reminding us yet another year that sometimes we need to take a step back, relax and enjoy the moment (and music) that is following us. You make our lives rejuvenating.

Let’s raise a glass to another year of great tunes!
    Artem

  5. Hi Dave,

to answer your question is easy: Natalie Walker – Quicksand, well the entire Urban Angle album to be exact 🙂

Thank you for a great podcast! I’m listening in from Denmark and have done so for quit a while now. Really excited about you returning to weekly podcasts – keep up the good work!

    All the best,

    Signe

  6. Hi Dave, thankfully for your podcast I bought Natalie Walker’s “Urban Angels” after listening to Episode #56 in 2006. Great job on introducing new artists every time yet keeping the podcast as downtempo as possible. THANK YOU for keeping my ears company all these years. – James Liew, Singapore

  7. Dave,
I have been listening to your podcast since the begging and I am addicted to your music. I love skiing with it, working out and just chilling. I am glad to hear that you are doing well with the show and that you are starting weekly podcast. I have learn about a lot of new artist from you and I hope for some more funk. Thank you for an awesome podcast and excited about the future! Great job and dedication:)
    From the mountains in Colorado

  8. From the Mountains in Tennessee. It is really interesting where we are all positioned on the planet. Eden by Hopscotch still makes me quiver. Taking this episode with me to the next massage appointment. So tired of pan flutes!

  9. hi, Dave! with greetings for from russia! happy anniversary! 😉
The first song I bought after listening to your podcast was Polycat’s one… Strange not to find them in this showlist, though…
Thanks for the great work you do for all of us!

  10. Thanks dave for a great retrospective. Premium sounds like a great venture, however I would miss the voiceovers. I really enjoy what you have to say on the podcasts

  11. LOVE the podcast!!! I love the mix of music through the years. As for the question of what was the first music I bought because of Dave’s Lounge-I have to tell you a story. I was shopping in a used CD store, Recycled CD’s in Gainesville GA (no longer in business, a sign of the times, I guess) about 5 years ago, and the owner was playing some really trippy, wonderful music. I didn’t know what chill was. It was “Bullet” by Trafik. It’s still one of my absolute favorites. Later, when I was looking on iTunes for more of the same, Dave’s Lounge was there. I took a listen, and here I’ve stayed. It reminds me of many years ago when 94Q in ATL would play Jazz Flavors and would turn me on to all kinds of jazz. It also goes back to your Dick Clark tribute, the questions you raised about bringing different flavors of music, the worrisome decline of new music quality, and the limited access to new artists to the masses.

All that to tell you the first music I bought was Lal Meri. There will be more soon because of this week’s podcast. I guarantee it.

I’m glad you are expanding Dave’s Lounge. I’ll be subscribing very soon to Premium and I will continue to sing the praises of your “place.” Here’s to (at least) seven more years…

  12. 1st song purchased after hearing it on Dave's Lounge:
    "Harbour Lights" by verbal kint

    Still one of my favorites!

  13. 14. Just by going through the playlists, it looks like the Love Spirals Downwards track from Dave's Lounge Show 5
