As our lonely little planet once again turns a corner and makes its way around the sun, we look back at the year that was by taking a moment to examine what our media landscape has become. We live in a world where the recording and radio industries are run by big data, and it turns out we're the ones supplying a lot of that data. We live in a media environment where a breach of a movie studio's computer security can somehow morph into a “terrorist threat” against “American interests”. In this sort of environment, it helps to understand who's really delivering a message like that and why. It also helps to realize how that environment gets funded, and what we can do to change that.
Independent voices in media are more important than ever these days, and there's never been a better time to support them.

Hey Dave, thanks as always for the GREAT tunes this last year, but even more for the “Dave’s-eye” view of the world with this last and first show of the year. Some of us that grew up and into the hippy generation are so glad to hear that the unbiased and freedom spirited search for truth, real artistry, and the independent point of view is alive and well. Be well and Happy in 2015, and for many more years. The well intentioned, perceptive, and cautiously skeptical point of view is the only one that ever really holds any water.
So great to get such a robust yearbook episode. I looked forward to it all year. A lot of songs that I didn’t remember until I heard them again. Shame though that the momentous occasion of episode 300 and the yearbook occurred simultaneously. Congratulations Dave!

Happy new year! This is the first yearbook episode I’ve heard. I heard it a few weeks back, but I am just getting around to commenting on it. I’m not sure if you are looking for specific feedback. Overall, it was very enjoyable. It appears that you’re interested in knowing people’s thoughts about your choices…so, here I go:
I’d say my favorite is Niia-Body. I loved it when I first discovered it (which was the first time you played it earlier in the year) and I still love it. I also like Jan Amit’s Heal track as well as Marian Hill’s Got it …which I had also heard previously on your podcast. Some of the other tracks that I really enjoyed and happen to be new to me (since I just caught on to your podcasts a few months ago) are Submotion Orchestra’s Trust /Lust (I know you love them) and what I thought was really unique lyrical poetry D’Crell’s Ballad of Love. That one was so “offbeat” that my wife went out of her way and asked me: “What are you listening to?” 🙂
