When I launched Dave's Lounge in 2005, I made a conscious decision never to play major label music on this show. That doesn't necessarily rule out the thoughts of major label artists. So when even Techdirt was endorsing Taylor Swift's Wall Street Journal piece on the future of music — click here to read it — my ears perked right up. Her thoughts on blending genres and taking risks in music jibed quite a bit with mine.
Those thoughts influenced some of the selections on this week's show, including the lead-off track by Mississippi-born bluesman Boo Boo Davis, whose new album was produced by Amsterdam-based electronic music duo Blu Acid. The mix of blues and electronica in this album is absolutely brilliant. When you hear it, you'll understand why it's leading off this week's show. Click here to check out more of that album.
